What is Zad

Zad Education and Development is a Canadian non-profit founded in 2015 dedicated to developing personal and life skills and providing educational support to children, youth, and women in Canada.

The word Zad comes from the Arabic term “Ziyadah” which means “to grow” or “to raise” – the essence of Zad’s work.

Child Friendly Space

Together with World Relief Germany, we have implemented a friendly space for Syrian refugee children to enjoy various after-school programs.

Teacher Training Program

Our Teacher Training project focuses on training Syrian refugee teachers in Turkey with contemporary teaching methodologies rooted in student-centred learning.

Reyhanli Community Center

inappropriate behavior is often laughed off as “boys will be boys,” women face higher conduct standards especially in the workplace that’s why it’s crucial.

Golden Hands

Together with Made For Them, we have created job opportunities for skilled Syrian women in Turkey to use their knitting skills to knit and sell their knitted items abroad.
